VM Workstation Problems with Win 10 and Network

Hi,

I am not very familiar with networking, but could manage most problems in the past.

I use several VMs i.e. for Internet access, software development, database server. With Windows 7 as a host OS I could have my host disconnected from the internet but could i.e. my 'email VM' get connected to the internet. I used the bridged feature of the netword setting. This went fine for me. With Windows 8 - on a laptop as a host - and now windows 10 on my 'main' host I can not get it running this way.

Under Windows 7 I used a wrong gateway IP (the one of the router) to prevent the host from connecting to the internet (and corrected it, when I needed the connection - not fine but useful). The 'email VM' used a automatic IP retrieved from the router and this worked perfect to connect to the internet. A VM with my software developing environment usually is not connected to the internet - but from time to time I i.e. have to connect to a remote database on a customers server. This works fine with the gateway trick too (this PC has a dedicated IP-Address and gateway IP).

But I can not get this running with Windows 8, 8.1. or 10. When the host is not connected to the internet I can not get the VMs connected to it.

How can I get this - the 'old' - behavior back (disconneted host, connected VMs)? Any hint is very welcome!

I use VM Workstation 12 and guest VMs with Windows 7, 8.1 and 10. The DHCP subnet IP is i.e. 192.168.100.0
