Can't extend drive 0 bytes free in Guest OS

Hello!

I forgot to extend a guest OS' partition because I missed the alert on the drive filling up. So now in the Guest OS (Server 2k8 R2) I have a Z: drive with 0 bytes free. I added space to the VM, that's all fine. I see the extra unallocated space, but I can't extend it. It says "Can't extend drive 0 bytes free" or something along those lines. I tried from cli with diskpart, and it says the same thing.

Anyone seen this before? I can't delete anything because it needs space to delete too which is just great (but I understand why).

I don't think this is a vmware problem, I'm just curious if anyone has seen it with their VMs before.

Thanks,

Ward
