Installing Guest O/S (RHEL 6) on Virtual Machine

I’m trying to install a guest O/S on a VM that has been configured for RHEL 6. The plan is to use an ISO image from a RHEL installation disk, move the files to a datastore on the vShere  and configure the CD/DVD of the VM to point to the datastore and reboot the VM and start the installation process. This seems to be simple enough task, but it is anything but simple.

Settings have been configured to point the CD/DVD drive to the the ISO image on the datastore.

Here are my questions:

1. Is the something flawed by simply copying file from the ISO image to the datastore?

2. If this is correct way of putting an ISO image on a datastore, what file should CD be pointing at to get the installation process running?

3. As an alternative, can I skip the edit settings and just to the vShere main page and connect the CD to? If so, what file to I connect to the CD?  ( see image below).

Any help greatly appreciated, thanks
