How to specify VMware Tools components to install with VUM or during power cycling?

We currently have all the Windows VM's set via Edit Settings > Options > VMWare Tools > Check and upgrade Tools during power cycle

Machines are deployed from templates.

I need to specify custom installation parameters to NOT install with WMI Performance counters and I would like the above option to always use these settings. In other words, I want to specify what VMware tools components to install on each power cycle. Is there a way to specify this for VUM and remediate all VM's? For example, i want to say, check all VM's and if they have the WMI component installed, remove it.

What installation settings are used when using the power cycle option? Where can i change them? What about VUM?

Once I remove the WMI component, will future Tools upgrades respect it? Or will it install the "typical" installation?

Basically i have around 150 VM's that I need to remove the WMI component from the VMware tools, I want to make sure that in the future they don't get installed and I want to manage or automate this via vSphere or VUM, preferably so i can confirm compliance.

Thanks,

Paul
